Child Safety Standards
Last updated: September 19, 2026
Music Connect is a mobile app for musicians, bands, teachers, producers and DJs. It is operated by Morteza Saedi, an individual based in California, United States (“we”, “us”). This page sets out our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation, how we protect younger users, and how to report a concern.
Report a child safety concern
In the app, use the ··· menu on the post, profile, gig or event, choose Report, then choose “Involves a minor”. Or email [email protected] with the subject “Child safety”.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the US) first. You can also report child sexual exploitation directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org or 1‑800‑843‑5678.
Our commitment
Music Connect prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. We have zero tolerance for it. This includes:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any image, video or other content that sexually depicts a minor.
- Sexualising minors in any way, in posts, comments, messages, profiles, gigs or events.
- Grooming: building a relationship with a minor in order to sexually abuse or exploit them.
- Sextortion: threatening or pressuring anyone, and especially a minor, into sharing sexual images, or demanding money or anything else under threat of sharing them.
- Soliciting sexual content or sexual contact from a minor, or trying to arrange to meet a minor for a sexual purpose.
- Trafficking or advertising a minor for sexual purposes.
These rules apply to every account, including band and venue pages, and are part of our Terms of Service.
Who can use Music Connect
- Music Connect is for people aged 13 and over.
- Everyone enters their date of birth when they sign up. If it shows they are under 13, the app will not let them continue, and our servers refuse to create the account.
- If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it.
- Users under 18 need a parent or guardian’s permission to use the app.
- A user’s date of birth and age are never shown to other users.
Protections for users aged 13 to 17
Accounts of users under 18 get these protections automatically. They are enforced on our servers, not just in the app:
- Hidden from Discover and search by default. A teen’s profile does not appear in Discover or search unless they turn on “Show me in Discover” themselves in Settings → Privacy.
- Messages only from people they follow. Only someone the teen follows can start a conversation with them. We check this on every message, not only the first: an adult can send a teen a message only if the teen follows them, or in a conversation the teen has already replied in. Teens cannot change this setting.
- City only. We store only a city for teens, never a precise location, including on the gigs and events they post.
- No “Near me”. Teens cannot search by distance, and they never appear in anyone’s “Near me” results.
- No event street addresses. A teen never receives the street address of an event, even one they have joined. They see the venue name and the general area.
- Their gigs and events stay close. Unless the teen has turned on “Show me in Discover”, the gigs and events they post are visible only to people they follow and to people who have already applied or are going.
- No band or venue pages. Only adults can create, own or manage a band or venue page.
- No payments. Music Connect has no in-app payments or ticket sales for anyone.
These protections limit who can find and contact a teen. They do not make a teen’s posts private: posts appear in the Home feed for everyone signed in, and a profile opens for anyone signed in who has its link.
Reporting and blocking in the app
Report
- A post: tap ··· at the top of the post → Report post.
- A person, band or venue: open their profile, tap ··· next to Message → Report.
- A gig or event: open it, tap ··· at the top → Report.
- A comment or a direct message: these do not have their own Report button. Email us a screenshot showing the comment or message and who sent it, with the subject “Child safety”. You can also report the sender’s account from their profile.
Choose a reason (“Involves a minor” for anything about a child’s safety), add details if you like, and tap Submit report. Reports are private: the account is not told who reported it.
Block
Open the person’s profile, tap ··· → Block. It takes effect straight away, in both directions:
- Neither of you can message the other, including in conversations you already have.
- Neither of you can like, comment on, save, repost or react to the other’s content, or follow the other. Existing follows between you are removed.
- You disappear from each other’s search results, gigs and events, and neither of you gets notifications about the other.
Blocking does not hide your posts or profile from them. If someone is putting a young person at risk, report them as well as blocking them. You can see and undo your blocks in Profile → Settings → Privacy → Blocked accounts.
What we do with reports
- Every report is reviewed by a person. Reports marked “Involves a minor” are flagged as priority and reviewed first.
- When content breaks these standards or our Terms, we remove it from the app and can suspend the account. A suspended account cannot post, upload, comment, message or follow. Its posts, comments, gigs and events are hidden, and its profile no longer opens for anyone except people already in a conversation with it.
- For serious or repeated violations, we permanently delete the account. Any adult who uses Music Connect to pursue contact with a minor is removed.
- We keep a moderation log recording every action we take on a report: what was done, by whom and when.
Child sexual abuse material
If we find or are told about child sexual abuse material on Music Connect, we:
- remove it from the app immediately;
- permanently terminate the account that posted it;
- report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires; and
- cooperate with law enforcement as required by law.
Laws and platform policies
We comply with applicable child safety laws, including US federal law on child sexual abuse material and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we delete it if we learn we have. We also follow the child safety policies of Google Play and the Apple App Store.
